These things happen because of our partners in this mission:
- Thousands of women have walked through our doors in need of medical care and emotional support.
- Initial prenatal visits include medical care and emotional support, but also prenatal vitamins, and help with Healthy Start and WIC applications.
- Volunteer physicians help at Womankind after a full day of work in their own practices to care for our prenatal clients every Monday since 1975.
- Volunteer nurses and nurse midwives and advanced practice nurses and phlebotomitsts have helped our volunteer physicians.
- Following every clinic day, specimens have been taken to St. Vincent Charity Hospital for testing.
- Severance and Diagnostic Radiology have been providing low cost ultrasounds for our clients and recently marymount Hospital has joined them.
- A small paid staff provides administration, provides and coordinates client care, but every other job is done by a volunteer.
- More than 5000 pregnancy tests have been done in just the last five years.
- Evening childbirth classes are offered on a regular basis and are taught by a volunteer. Class sizes have been as large as 50.
- Volunteers come in five days a week so that an available and loving person answers our telephones.
- Trained volunteers answer our telephones from the time the office closes until we reopen the next day or after a weekend. They provide the caring and assistance so needed in a crisis.
- Our medical line is available for our clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
